4 Admission Requirements…CCC
Open admissions - anyone interested in attending is accepted Must apply on-line and take the assessment – ACCUPLACER test (for Delta) given at LHS! Delta counselors will be at LHS in May to help you enroll WATCH DEADLINES!

5 California State Universities
23 Campuses across the state Most are IMPACTED – especially in Nursing 7/23 are NOT Impacted so you have a better chance of getting in! (Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, Humboldt, Maritime, San Francisco, Stanislaus) 4 year Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science New application! www2.Calstateapply.edu Reasonably priced…about $25,000 per year

6 Admission Requirements…CSU
4 years English, 3 years math (Int. Math 1,2,3), 2 years same language other than English, 2 years science with lab, 2 years social science, 1 year visual/perf. art (VPA) SAT or ACT November 30th Deadline! No D/F semester grades!

All students must be college-ready in order to be eligible to enroll after being accepted to the CSU. Go to:

8 CSU Eligibility Index…
All admissions to a CSU is dependent upon you meeting the minimum Eligibility Index of 2950 using the SAT or 694 using the ACT – BUT – most schools require a higher index! To calculate your index: SAT (scores in mathematics & critical reading) + (800 x HS GPA) •ACT (10 x ACT composite score without the writing score) + (200 x HS GPA) CHECK YOUR INDEX BEFORE APPLYING

10 Campuses in California Highly Competitive to Enter Wonderful research schools Larger Campus Size Requires 4 “Personal Insight Questions” of 350 words or less… Have someone read your statement!

10 Admission Requirements…UC
4 years English, 3 years math (prefer 4 years), 2 years language other than English (prefer 3 years), 2 years science with lab (prefer 3), 1 year VPA, 2 years Social Sci. Minimum GPA must be at least 3.0 to apply (10th-12th grades only) SAT and/or ACT (SAT Subject Test for Engineering Majors) NO D or F Semester Grades! November 30th Deadline!

Over 76 private colleges and universities in California – with over 200 locations! Wonderful programs - some of the best kept secrets in higher education Many use the Common Application Not always as costly as you may think...

Varies greatly between the colleges Many highly competitive schools Several very “forgiving” schools Incredible financial aid programs Different deadlines to search schools

13 College Entrance Exams...
ACT…Total possible points = 36 Tests 4 areas - English, Math, Science/Social Science Should take this test by November if you want Cal Poly! Must take before December of this year! SAT…Total possible points = 1600 (800 each section) Tests English and Math knowledge May take as many times as needed... Must take before December of this year!!

14 Trade or Technical Schools
Programs designed to give students post-secondary training and skills Good programs - generally high ticket prices to attend Be sure to check program prior to committing any money Designed for students who are not in college prep. programs in high school Truck driver shortage in the US – good pay!

15 San Joaquin Area Apprenticeships
Amazing training programs for hands-on learning AND earning! On-the-job training for students over 18 who have graduated from High School Many apprenticeships combine college credits toward a degree Most positions start at $15.00 per hour More information - www. sjapprenticeship.org

Coast Guard ASVAB – You took last year ROTC – amazing scholarship available! Meet with Recruiters right here in the Career Center

All Seniors are strongly encouraged to apply! Where does the money come from? Can you qualify for Scholarships? How do you start?
