4 Status of the FAIR Cryostat
Preliminary cryostat design finished mid 2016 Funding problems, FAIR budget not available (CCC as HEBT diagnostics) Funding confirmed by HIJ beginning of 2018 Call for tender 03/2018 Contract signed with ILK Dresden 06/2018 4 + 5 months for detailed design and production, costs 140 k€ problems with ceramic gap, delay and additional costs (25 k€) (delay partly caused by enthalpy cooling design) steering meeting Dec. 2018, deadline for detailed drawings 02/2019 review of 2D drawings March – June ceramic gap ordered (34 weeks delievery time) production starts NOW, 14 months after delivery time fixed in contract Meeting with ILK next week ... Installation in CRYRING in 2020 1200 Liquefier Head Vacuum Chamber Aluminum Window Thermal Shielding Beam Tube Helium Container CCC Shield + Detector Steel Frame liquefier in operation 15 l/day ok vibration measurement with acc.meter and SQUID ongoing (Master Thesis) Next step, Design of exhaust line and improved controls radiation tests with SQUIDS performed (09/2018; 1 kGy) CCC Collaboration Meeting Thomas Sieber 24th June 2019

12 Summary / Time Schedule
Next steps: ILK guaranteed production until October FAT and SAT part 1done with dummy beam tubes Bakeout tests at GSI (hallogen lamps) Feb/March Sat part 2 with ceramic gaps Installation in CRYRING mid 2020 In the meantime: Construction of coreless CCC at IPHT (Sep.) Design of exhaust gas system Prepare test setup at GSI We still rely on modular setup and easy replacement of components in case of problems CCC Collaboration Meeting Thomas Sieber 24th June 2019

13 Space (temporary) available for CCC
Tests in CRYRING start 2020 CCC Test/Operation in Cryring = Swedish inkind contribution to FAIR Beam from ESR for Atomic Physics experiments Currently under commissioning (vacuum, ecool) Remains operational during FAIR shutdown !!! CCC: → tool for commissioning → support for experimental program → test bench for further development CCC test program - Radiation hardness test at SIS18 in 2018 beamtime After CRYRING installation in 2020 - check new cryostat design + reliquefier scheme - verification of FAIR CCC lab results - Lead / Niobium comparison - alternative shielding geometries  CCC without toroid / new SQUID types - FESA class for CCC - improve MAGNICON electronics - bakeable CCC version ? And in the following - CCC with reference SQUID - CCC cascades for enhanced dynamic range - resonant operation for single particle detection + many other new ideas  Space (temporary) available for CCC CCC Collaboration Meeting Thomas Sieber 24th June 2019 13
