2 Background In March 2017, KLEK-LP received a donation of $25,738 to build a 100 feet self supporting tower from First National Bank in Paragould/Jonesboro, Arkansas. Information on our Funding Prospectus and Stat Sheet played a major role in the decision of the bank to fund our tower project.

5 Background – The Strategic Plan
The Neil Griffin College of Business at Arkansas State University created a strategic plan for KLEK. The strategic plan was created by graduate students in the M.B.A. program as a capstone project. One of the primary suggestions in the plan was to create a funding prospectus. The purpose being “Don’t just ask for money, spell out what you need and the justification behind it”

10 The Stat Sheet Inspiration for the stat sheet came from materials passed out at athletics press conferences. The materials would have stats broken up into categories with catchy titles to gain attention.

11 Why a Stat Sheet The stat sheet allows for potential underwriters and donors to learn more about what you do as well as demographic information about your listeners.

The Basics (Who, What, When, Why Where) Mission Statement/Values Description of Coverage Area Noncommercial/Listener Supported Status Programming Awards/Recognitions Community Involvement ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT!

13 What’s in the Stat Sheet?
Radio Listenership (If you can get it, available for around $600 per year at Radio Research Consortium) Website hits People reached on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media YouTube video views. All website hosts and social media have analytics in which you can draw data.

Demographic data - Attractive to underwriters who in addition to knowing your mission and what you do they also know more about your supporters. Hours listening to your station How many support your underwriters because they’re heard on the station. Age/Race/Gender Educational Level Income level Registered Voters

15 How to Get the Demographic Info for the Stat Sheet?
Create a listener survey. A listener survey in addition to demographic info can provide valuable feedback into how you’re doing with your listeners. 16 What’s in the Stat Sheet?
Make the case for why people should support you! Explain why people should support you by highlighting what you do. Explain how people supporting you allows you to fulfill your mission while informing your audience about their support. Show the various ways people can support you. End the stat sheet with a summary that ties it all together.

17 A Word About Social Media/Website/App Stats
While the primary stat people will want to know is how many listeners you have, don’t ignore your social media/website/app stats. If you’re not making full use of your social media, DO IT! Live streaming events in the community on Facebook is a great way for exposure.
