2. Objectives of BIPP
To position the NRF as a key player in the conceptualisation, development and management of interventions designed to address the technology and human resource needs of industry in SA;
To evaluate the skills and technology needs of business and industry in general so as to guide the NRF in its development of intervention tools;
To facilitate the establishment of collaborative partnerships involving all stakeholders in support of research and skills development for economic growth, job creation and prosperity for all South Africans;
To raise funds for the support of research and skills development activities focused on addressing the needs of business, industry and the economy in general;
To facilitate the leverage of funds into activities for the appropriate development of technologies and human resources for business and industry;
To facilitate convergence between academic research and the needs of the economy;
To establish initiatives that will enhance entrepreneurship tendencies particularly in science, engineering and technology practitioners, increasing prospects for technology-based small enterprise spin-offs.

To foster a culture of entrepreneurship in SA, within HEIs and among HEIs within a region, at all graduate levels;
To develop the highest quality theory of entrepreneurial activity and translate it into practice;
To enable entrepreneurial students in HEIs with an S&T background to establish S&T-based enterprises that generate wealth and job opportunities
To enhance the involvement of black and women entrepreneurs in technology-based SMMEs, through corrective action;
To transfer research, training and other expertise from the entrepreneurial programmes to the developing world, with specific focus on Sub-Saharan Africa
