You observe two stars in the constellation Leo, and you are curious about their luminosities. Specifically, what two measurements do you need to make in order to determine that?
Hint: Think about what you need to know to determine luminosity
How do you measure those two things simply from the light that we receive?

3. Answer: You need to know size You look at the wavelength of light
You need to know temperature
You need to know size

This tells you it’s color
Which will then allow you to determine it’s temperature
You look at it’s spectral lines
The thinner the line, the less dense the atmosphere and the larger the star
The thicker the line, the more dense the atmosphere and the smaller the star
