1 Reflecting on Your PBS Implementation Using Data
and Planning for Next Year This brief presentation is a focus on getting the coordinators to begin planning NOW for next year.

2 What data can you use to reflect on your PBS accomplishments?
PBS Implementation Plan and Team Implementation Checklist (TIC) Did you do what you said you were going to do? What else needs done to sustain your efforts next year? School-wide Evaluation Tool (SET) Did fidelity with the universal components increase during the course of the year? How do your SET results inform your priorities for next year? These are overarching questions to prompt appropriate use of data in planning for the future. They will need to look at all the different data sources separately and make assumptions about their meanings. Then they need to compare the different sources to check their assumptions.

3 What data can you use to reflect on your PBS accomplishments?
SWIS or other ODR data What does your triangle look like at this time of year? What are your assumptions about this? Do you need additional data to confirm or refute your assumptions? What areas need specific focus next year (classroom, playground, cafeteria, other)? Effective Behavior Supports (EBS) Survey Based on results of EBS, do staff believe that the PBS components are being implemented with fidelity? What do staff say is most important to prioritize? It may make sense for them to make a list of things that stand out so they can use these a priorities when planning.

What is this slide telling you about the accomplishments? How does the score inform the work for the next year? Answers: This data needs to be shared with others to show how well they are doing? Need to make a plan for continuing to sustain the effort. Further work can be done to enhance the reward system.

5 This TIC summary shows the status of their PBS plan implementation over four points in time. It is another example of how the process evolves over time and indicates that there is still a little left to do. In this case, it is the implementation of some of the targeted systems. It’s important to remind folks to continue to go back to the TIC to determine whether the general components are fully in place.

6 Ask: What conclusions can you draw from this data?

7 Moderate priority given across systems for areas to target – would still start with SW practices but perhaps examine the ODR data by student to determine whether or not individual systems appear to be capturing high risk students since staff rated this as a high priority and a system that is clearly not in place.

What’s going on with disrespect? How can this tie into lesson plans for next year? Also, perhaps reviewing the operational definition with staff at a staff meeting would help with fidelity.

This school appears to be in good shape. One conclusion you may draw is that teachers are not documenting minors. Perhaps there could be more prevention work while behavior is still minor.

13 Questions for Reflection
What is your plan for sharing this data with your PBS Leadership Team? What is your plan for reviewing this with your entire staff? Students? Families? Community? This is a reminder that PBS must continue as a very important school priority which demands high visibility. Are you planning end of the year summaries? Again, the goal is to make sure the work is high profile. Are there barriers to keeping PBS high profile. How can barriers be addressed?

14 What are your plans for sustaining your PBS Leadership Team and rolling out for next year?
Anticipate staff changes. BEST/Act230 grants need to be written to support effort. Is there adequate planning time between now and the start of the new year. The idea here is to hit the ground running next year!

15 Sustaining your PBS Leadership Team
How committed is your administrator? Who’s missing from the team? How can you make the team have a higher profile? Complete Team Roster – when will you meet throughout the year? These are a list of the minimal considerations to be addressed prior to the close of this school year or with a commitment to meet after school ends to do the work.

17 PBS Roll-Out for next year?
When and how will you roll out with staff, students, families and communities? Complete the worksheets for PBS roll-out. A reminder to make sure PBS is part of one of the opening days in service. Minimally a half day will be needed to review the universal components, and targeted strategies if in place. Can you schedule a student body assembly now for a review of the expectations? Finally, how will the expectations be communicated to parents?
