1 Make-up Testing Please come up and get a copy of the test if were not here on Wednesday before break. You’ll have 30 minutes for the Multiple Choice section. Come back and get the Rhetorical Analysis Question when you finish MC – you’ll have 45 minutes to complete the rhetorical analysis essay.

2 No talking – no cheating!
Critical Thinking You will have three minutes to try to figure out the scenario in which the following situation existed. You may need to turn in your answers so that I can check them. Make sure your name is on the paper. No talking – no cheating!

3 The Problem Although the following scenario may seem unlikely, the scenario given is realistic and has actually happened. The clues can all be taken at face value, although that's not to say their implications can't be misleading. I will give you the result with possible clues, and you will give me the scenario in which this took place.

4 The Result In the middle of the ocean is a yacht. Several corpses are floating in the water nearby. No storm had been anywhere in the vicinity for over two weeks. What was the scenario in which this took place?

5 The Scenario Both of these scenarios have actually happened several times throughout history. A group of people were on an ocean voyage in a yacht. One day, they decided to go swimming -- they put on their swimsuits and dove off the side. They discovered belatedly that they had forgotten to put a ladder down the side of the yacht and were unable to climb back in, so they drowned. OR The same situation, but they set out a ladder that was just barely long enough. When they dove into the water, the boat, without their weight, rose slightly in the water, putting the ladder just out of reach.

6 Week 14 - Vocabulary Just a reminder that you were given the week 14 vocabulary list before break. The quiz will be on Thursday this week. We will have a week 14 and 15 quiz and then we will be done with vocabulary until the 2nd semester. Remember that anything from weeks 1-14 is fair game.

8 Goals for the Day I can revise my understanding of AP multiple choice questions to help me more successfully answer future questions.

9 AP Multiple Choice Exam
Be sure you have your scantron sheet and a copy of the exam questions. Meet with the group you were working with last time. Think about the strengths and weaknesses of your group, and divide yourselves evenly into two groups. One half stays, one half goes.

10 The Process We will work through 5 questions at a time.
Take each question and determine WHY the correct answer was correct and WHY the other 4 choices were incorrect. You or your group may be asked to justify your reasoning to the entire class, so be prepared and understand each answer choice thoroughly.

11 Annotation Assignment
Requirements: The typed or handwritten response MUST be turned in the day of the quiz. If not turned in on that day, immediately after the quiz, you will receive half credit. Read and annotate the passage (I am simply looking for marks on your paper – whatever works for you). Type or handwrite the summary: Write and define any words you do not know. There are always complex words in the passage. Don’t skip this. Write a brief summary of each paragraph – what is it saying? Identify the author’s overall argument or thesis statement (one sentence). Identify the author’s purpose and tone – and pull out specific words, phrases, or lines from the text that help you to identify each. Identify the two rhetorical strategies the author uses that you feel most help him to develop his/her argument. Give a brief explanation as to why you think this.

12 Complete the Annotation Assignment for Joseph Addison’s True and False Humour.
Complete the Albert Assignment – The Story of My Life (Helen Keller, 1903). Complete the “Go Away Go” worksheet. Vocabulary Quiz #14 on Thursday. Get caught up on any missing assignments! Only 5 classes left before we take our Final Exam.

13 Read and Annotate Work together to complete the quiz with the goal of achieving 100%. When you are finished, come and have me check your answers. I will tell you how many you have missed, but not which ones you have missed. You may continue to revise and check your answers until the bell rings, at which time, your group will receive the score you have.
