1 Finding Periodicals in the Library
By Barbara J. Hampton, J.D., M.L.S. Reference Librarian Ryan-Matura Library, Sacred Heart U.

2 Use SHU library links to access our journal subscriptions
The cost of these subscriptions is included in your tuition. Our subscription isn’t validated if you go directly to a journal’s public site (for example, from a Google link). Outside our subscription link, you will be asked to pay for each article you wish to access. DON’T PAY TWICE! Use the library link. Ask a reference librarian for help to find your journal and print or download articles. Use ILLiad interlibrary loan to retrieve journal articles not in our collections.

3 Two ways to find specific journals from the library home page
Journal Title Search Library Catalogue Search

4 From Journals by Title link, enter info in search box

5 See links to both online subscriptions and print holdings (may cover different dates)

6 In Library Catalog Search, select “Journal Title” from the drop-down menu, then enter title in search box and click SEARCH

7 Catalog record links to e-journal in databases (watch dates of coverage).

8 If more than one catalog record for journal, check all

9 In databases, search journal by author, title or browse year, issue.
