3 Scores and Tiers - AB Policy

4 Scores and Tiers - AB Policy

5 Recommendation Based on Scores
The following are guidelines to follow:

6 Typical Scoring Sheet The different sections are scored based on number of “yes” answers divided by the number of applicable questions. The total number of “yes” answers divided by the total number of applicable questions for each tier for the entire SIQ. The total number of yes responses is divided by the total number of applicable questions. The number of NCs, SOs and PTs for each section. Total number of repeat citations

7 Typical SIQ Section 1 There are Exclude N/A from scoring

8 Scoring 101 Use the spreadsheet provided to enter your answer
Add up all the applicable NCs for a section Add up all the “yes” responses Add up all the applicable SOs for a section Add up all the applicable PTs for a section

9 Scoring Spreadsheet Screen Grab

10 Section Scores vs Tier Scores
The spread sheet will tally all the responses for a given section so that NCs, SOs, and PTs are combined to give a total for the section. After all 8 sections are scored, the spreadsheet will automatically calculate the Tier scores. Additionally, a total score will be tallied at the same time the tier scores are calculated.

11 Scoring continued Tier Score = # actual Yes responses for a given tier (NC/SO/PT) divided by the # applicable questions for a given tier. Total Score = # all Yes responses divided by the # of applicable questions for the entire SIQ Section Score = # Yes responses for a given section divided by the # of applicable questions

12 Some Important Points N/A answers are excluded from evaluation
N/A answers change the scoring, sometimes quite significantly. Be mindful to exclude these items from your scoring OMIT from scoring

13 A note about Repeats Make sure that if all questions in a section are marked “yes”, the final question about repeats is marked “N/A”. N/A’s do not count toward the total number of questions in a section or for the total number of applicable questions.

14 Some Reminders Inspectors score and send to the eye banker AB Co-Chair. The Co-Chair will verify scores and reply with confirmation of scoring. Remember, these are recommendations only. A single PT could be so egregious that it could result in denial of accreditation. Scores are ONLY for the purpose of discussion with the AB board. Don’t share with bank.

15 Don’t Let These Doggone Scores Get you Down!!
I will do your paperwork for treats! Squirrel! Don’t forget to exclude the N/A’s! Bootz Pippen Thora
