3 Using de to Show Possession
In Spanish, ’s does not exist. To tell what belongs to someone or to show relationships, use [noun] + de + owner. Example: El gemelo de Cristina → Cristina’s twin brother Los amigos de Juan → Juan’s friends.

4 Possessive Adjectives
Possessive adjectives (my, your, etc.) are another way to tell what belongs to someone or to show relationships. English Meaning Spanish Translation Singular Plural My Your (familiar) His/Her, Its, Your (formal) Our Your (familiar- Spain) Their, Your (formal) Possessive adjectives agree in _____________ with the nouns that they describe. number mi mis tu tus su sus These forms agree in both number and ___________________ with the nouns that they describe. nuestro/a nuestros/as gender vuestro/a vuestros/as su sus

5 Possessive Adjectives
Possessive adjectives are always placed __________________ the nouns they describe. Since su and sus can mean his, her, its, your, and their, the forms de él/ella, de Ud./Uds., de ellos/ellas may be used for clarity. Example: sus parientes → los parientes de él/ella los parientes de Ud./Uds. los parientes de ellos/ellas before His or her relatives Your (formal) relatives Their relatives
