20 Questions?

21 The most time saved on a trip shorter than 500 miles long is about 12 minutes – however, that is on a trip that is almost an hour long. If you take into account traffic lights and congestion that time savings decreases significantly. Also the higher the speed limit the less time you save by exceeding it. If the speed limit is 35mph and you are doing 45 mph, your traveling 30% faster, if the speed limit is 65 mph and you are going 75 that is only about a 15% increase. The truth is during high traffic hours or in heavily populated areas the hypothetical time savings go out the window, because constant speed is what gets you where you are going fastest. Speed is only one of the factors that determine how long your trip will take and the majority of the factors that determine how long your trip takes are out of your control. Speeding save you a marginal amount of time, if any. If you really want to save time you should Plan out multi-stop trips efficiently, so if you have multiple stops to make plan your route before you leave, avoiding back-tracking will save more time than speeding. Avoid left turns, choosing a right turn instead of a left turn will save you time and gas.
