2. Where are the classrooms in Upper Key Stage 2?
Upper Key Stage 2 (UKS2) classrooms are located in the modern, two-storey building.
The two Year 5 classrooms are downstairs and open out onto the Key Stage 1 playground.
The two Year 6 classrooms are upstairs.
Toilets and cloakrooms are accessed directly from classrooms.
Children will use the Key Stage 2 playground at playtimes and Mapledurum Hall for assemblies.

Children should wait on the KS1 playground in the morning.
When the bell goes, they should line up in classes where they will be collected by their class teacher.
Mobile phones are allowed by collected and retained by teachers during the day.
Most communication is through and website. Some letters are given to children to take home.

New curriculum content and objectives introduced in year 5 and further embedded in year 6.
Expectations of quantity of work produced increases gradually.
iPads allocated to each child – responsibility, independence, e-safety, monitored usage.

We continue to encourage reading for pleasure at least 5 times a week.
Reading may be more independent than in younger years.

Daily reading lessons in school – mixture of whole-class and guided groups.

Termly spelling lists sent home – weekly spelling tests in school.
Weekly ‘MyMaths’ task to complete at home.
Home learning project tasks given out at the start of each term – 1 compulsory task and a 2nd task to be chosen. Due in at the end of term. Linked to topic learning.
Home learning shared in class - peer and teacher feedback, including house points.

Children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack to eat at break time.
School lunches can be ordered and paid for at home or in school.
Children should bring in water every day.
We encourage walking/cycling to school.

Children with additional needs will continue to have focused GAP or SAP targets.
TA and teacher support, differentiated tasks and resources during lessons.
Additional TA-led interventions in the afternoons.
Transition may include extra visits to their new teacher and area and a transition book
