4 What is the DE-CLC ? 9-Day long leadership course for Delaware Air Force JROTC cadets Trainees (1st time cadets) Cadre (2nd & subsequent time cadets) Conducted after school ends in June DE-CLC dates & location for 2019 13 thru 21 June Bethany Beach Training Site in Bethany Delaware Cost - $150.00 Scholarships are available based on financial need

6 DE-CLC Schedule Thursday 13 Jun – Cadre goes to Smyrna HS from 0900 to 1600 Friday 14 Jun – Cadre & Trainees go to MHS from 0800 to 1630 with all equipment Saturday 15 Jun – Cadre go back to Smyrna HS with all equipment to be transported to Bethany by bus. SASIs & ASIs from each school proceed to Bethany with their equipment by POVs Sunday 16 Jun – Trainees go back to MHS with all equipment to be transported to Bethany by bus Friday 21 Jun – Cadre & Trainees graduate and will be transported home by parents/guardians

7 Benefits of DE-CLC Cadets have practical leadership opportunities to help them prepare for greater leadership positions in their home units. Cadets learn the importance of teamwork in accomplishing unit goals. The environment provides cadets with an opportunity to learn the importance of self-discipline, time management, a sense of urgency, and attention-to-detail.

8 Benefits of DE-CLC (Cont.)
Cadets are challenged to do things they have never done before, thus enhancing self-confidence and self-esteem. Cadets develop mental and physical toughness. Cadets earn one academic elective credit on their transcript. Instructors have an opportunity to exchange ideas, information, and successful experiences.

9 DE-CLC Selection Requirements
Passing all MHS & AFJROTC courses Be in good disciplinary standing in MHS & AFJROTC Must have current school year sports physical

10 DE-CLC Selection Requirements
Physical Fitness Standards Trainees Run 1-mile without walking Males - Perform a minimum of 25 push-ups in 1 minute Females - Perform a minimum of 15 push-ups in 1 minute All Trainees perform a minimum 35 sit-ups in 1 minute Cadre Males – Run 1-mile in 9:00 minutes or less Females – Run 1-mile in 10:00 minutes of less All Cadre - Perform a minimum 35 sit-ups in 1 minute

Begins 0500 and ends at 2100 Daily Activities / Evaluations Physical conditioning Dormitory arrangement Drill & ceremonies Team sports Survival academics Other topics based on availability

12 DE-CLC Graduation Graduation ceremony is on Friday 21 June at 0930
Cadets will be transported home by parents/guardians after the ceremony Parents/Guardians should bring lawn chairs, unbrellas and water
