English Revision Students in Year 8 have been studying the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. They will be given an extract from Act 1 scene I and a question about how Shakespeare uses language and structure to present an idea in the extract. Students should read and revise the Prologue and Act 1 scene I. Students will be expected to use quotations from the given extract to explore the effects of language and structure. (Write ‘reading ladder paragraphs’) Students are not expected to have finished reading the play but may write about other scenes and events they remember in the second part of their answer. English teachers will instruct and support their classes but students can also use BBC Bitesize to revise the theme of conflict at home.
