Lethe/Lethargy/Lethargic in Classics
In Greek mythology, Lethe was the name of a river in the Underworld also known as the “River of Unmindfulness or Forgetfulness” (Ameles potamos). It flowed near the cave Hypnos, where murmuring induces drowsiness. Lethe is also used as a metaphor for the Underworld in general. When shades entered the Underworld, they were required to drink from the river to forget their earthly life. Fig 1.
