1 WMIRS Flight Academy Management (FAM)
[©2019 Civil Air Patrol] [Swift Aerobatic Display - image released into the Public Domain] Briefing for Flight Academy Staff Summer 2019

2 FAM Screen – Purpose and Scope
An electronic system meeting CAPR requirements Multiple flights at the same location and on the same day Can be released without passenger, flight time, and estimated landing time information Each aircraft and PIC combination must be identified in advance Someone on the ground must track occupants and flight times to confirm safe execution Note: Relocation sorties do not meet these requirements, thus use of standard Sortie Edit will be required Streamline sortie scheduling, editing, close out and reporting Adds multiple flight release based on Instructor Pilot – using Release Flights Does not provide additional relief from or modification of CAPR 70-1 pre-flight risk assessment & flight release requirements – these are customer requirements

3 FAM Screen Overview Resources Reports Maint Time Add/Edit Window
Status Only

4 FAM Screen Resources ALL QUALIFIED PILOTS NON-PILOT STAFF

5 FAM Screen Add and Edit

6 Access Standard Sortie List - RELO

7 Preflight Risk Assessment

8 FAM Screen – RA&R (Relo, Solo, Tow)
This is the Standard eFR page. “PIC-seat” used for Copy ORM/Multiple Release Cadets must have their “Solo Pilot” qualification in Ops/Quals before they can be released on a solo This requires preplanning and adaptability Note the lack of navigation on the left and in the eFR Release Information block - you must use the back arrow to return

9 FAM Screen – RA&R (Flt Inst)
If the instructor only has pending sorties on a single day, the eFR for that day will load; otherwise, the Date selector appears. If a pilot has pending releases for multiple aircraft models, only those for the model used on the first sortie will appear. Once those are released, the sorties for the other model of aircraft will appear. Note: Mixed mission types can be presented.

10 Copy ORM and Multiple Release
All Q&As are copied

11 ORM and eFR Status Feedback

12 Glider RA&R: Paper-based Process

13 FAM Edit-Void Rules Changing date to the following day will void release Adding, editing, deleting “crew” information varies Relo, Glider Tow, FltInstr SOLO (and “shotgunned” Solo)

14 FAM Screen Sortie Close-Out

15 FAM Screen Reports

16 Avoiding System Bottlenecks
ORM FRO t =0 t1 =22 t6 =37 One computer / serial processing ORM FRO t =0 t1 =6 t6 =12 YOUR RESOURCE AVAILABILITY/APPROACH MAY REQUIRE YOU TO START THE TIMELINE THE EVENING PRIOR FLT OPS START Nominal Times for RA&R Activities Sign Out/In ~ 1 min ORM or paper-based RAW ~ 2 minutes eFR or paper-based FRO checklist ~ 3 minutes Multi-devices / parallel processing

17 Workarounds That Are Work Traps
CAPR – Release on CAPF 99 Execution Each pilot does a paper-based pre-flight risk assessment (ORM) FRO uses CAPF 99 to release multiple sorties (records ORM score?) Post-execution FRO must enter release within 24 hours (can input ORM score) PIC must enter ORM within 72 hours of landing (must enter all data) Copy ORM not available until an ORM has been entered Multiple flight release not available unless ORM has been copied Everything must be done at least twice, maybe more

18 Miscellaneous Items When using an iPad and Chrome – the Approve button at the bottom of the eFR Details page will not be visible. Enter your CAPID and Code, then retract the keyboard to access the Approve button. Instructions on using the Beta Test site will be sent via later this week Mission numbers will be issued once training is complete for your activity Questions?
