2 Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength!
Psalm 21:13 Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power. Hymns Invitation Red Songbook - Supplemental

3 Romans 8:31-39 Victory in Jesus!

4 Themes of Romans To explain the scheme of redemption (1-8)
To explain Israel’s part in that scheme (9-11) To discuss the Christian life (12-16)

5 Victory: A Trial The legal nature of Romans: Law Judgment Justification Witnesses Accusation Defense Law - 50 times Judgment - 18 times Justification – 16 times Witnesses – 3 times Accusation, defense – 1 time

6 Victory: A Trial The victory of Romans is a legal victory It is being in court and being justified

7 Victory: A Trial A Divine Judge (All men) will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 1 Peter 4:5 Ro 14:12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

8 Victory: A Trial A intent prosecutor …..the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. Revelation 12:10 Ro 14:12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

9 Victory: A Trial A merciful defender My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous 1 John 2:1 Passing the Bar

10 Victory: A Trial An unpassable bar For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; Hebrews 9:24 Passing the Bar

11 Paul’s Rhetorical Questions
Four points: 1. Nothing can be against us - Colossians 2:13-15 Col 2:13 ¶ And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

12 Paul’s Rhetorical Questions
Four points: 1. Nothing can be against us 2. The judge is now on our side - He has a vested interest in us - 1 Timothy 2:4 1Ti 2:4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

13 Paul’s Rhetorical Questions
Four points: 1. Nothing can be against us 2. The judge is now on our side 3. None remain who can accuse - The accuser has been dismissed - Revelation 12:10, Hebrews 2:14 Re 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. Heb 2:14 ¶ Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

14 Paul’s Rhetorical Questions
Four points: 1. Nothing can be against us 2. The judge is now on our side 3. None remain who can accuse 4. Nothing remains to separate us - Separation of sin - Isaiah 59:1-2 Isa 59:1 ¶ Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. Romans 6- you can still separate yourself from God in sin – Ro 6:2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

15 The Work of All the Ages God’s incredible work to deliver us: - Being both just and the justifier - Being both lawful and merciful But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37 Ro 3:26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Ro 11:32 For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.
