Sigmoid volvulus. Sigmoid volvulus. (A) Plain film showing a large distended loop of sigmoid colon arising from the pelvis extending up to the right upper quadrant, with proximal large bowel obstruction. This is the typical appearance of sigmoid volvulus (coffee bean sign; arrows). (B,C) A confirmed sigmoid volvulus on the CT scan.
