2. Region Chapters
Each region of study this year will be like a chapter in the scrapbook and will include:
Student-drawn map of the region
“Postcard” for each country/culture studied from the region
Other student-created materials that help build an understanding of the cultures in the region that may be periodically assigned either for at home or at school projects.

3. Map of Each Region A map of each region is neatly hand-drawn.
Each region’s map should include at least the following basic information:
Outline of countries in the region and labeled.
Capital cities of each country labeled with a star inside a circle symbol.
At least two or more other major cities within the region (not within each country, however).
At least two or more major landforms or physical features of the region (for example, mountain, desert, rainforest, etc.).
Label all major bodies of water, such as oceans and seas that border the region.
Include at least one other body of water, such as a river or lake in the region.
*The student may include any other information they choose.

4. Postcards
Front of the postcard includes specific information to research and include
Back of the postcard includes a sketch of the place, event, or culture trait that is representative of the culture, plus captions to describe the sketch (must add color).
After completed and colored, the student will cut apart and glue the postcard together.
Keep it in the student ziploc bag provided.

6. Other
Other student materials will be included for some of the regions.
For example, a Japanese Haiku poem for Unit 7: East Asia and a travel brochure for India.
*The majority of the projects will be completed at home.

9. Tips for Success
Keep up with your papers in the Ziploc bag provided. I expect it to be kept in the student’s school binder. Keep the extra binder from the school supply list to turn in the project at the end of the year.
Complete all work neatly and completely.
Use internet, books, atlas, encyclopedia, etc. There are two helpful sites posted on my class page at
Utilize the school, city and/or county library.
Check out a 6th grade textbook to keep at home or use digital online textbook at willisisd.edutone.net.

10. Other Information to Know
Scrapbook is due at the end May. The work is ongoing and continual.
The book will count as a semester test grade (10% of your final semester grade).
Daily grades will be taken regularly and will be announced and posted on google classroom and my willisisd class webpage.
