2 Zygote Developing baby first two weeks of pregnancy.

3 Developing baby 3rd-8th week of pregnancy.
Embryo Developing baby 3rd-8th week of pregnancy.

Fetus Developing baby after 8th week until term.

5 Pregnancy Timeline 2 Weeks Developing baby is known as a zygote
Primitive heart beat. Every feature and vital organ are started.

6 Pregnancy Timeline 8 Weeks Developing baby is known as a embryo
Can move arms and legs. Bone cells begin to replace cartilage.

7 Pregnancy Timeline 16 Weeks External sex organs start to appear.
Internal organs are well developed. You can hear the heartbeat.

8 Pregnancy Timeline 24 Weeks
Respiratory system is developing and getting ready to work outside the womb. Baby is growing and you can feel the baby move intensly.

9 Pregnancy Timeline 37-40 Weeks
Prenatal growth is rapid, if continued after birth, the baby would weigh 160 pounds by his/her 1st Birthday.

11 Prenatal Terminology Prenatal development is the development before birth. Prenatal period lasts about 40 weeks. The prenatal period is broken into trimesters.

12 The Umbilical Cord A. Passes oxygen, and nutrients from the mother to the child. B. Returns waste products back to the mother. Connection between the fetus & the placenta.

13 The Placenta Is an organ that develops
between the embryo and the uterus during pregnancy. B. It filters nutrients and oxygen to the fetus.

14 Amniotic Fluid Guards against jolts
Keeps the fetus at a constant temperature. Keeps the fetus from forming adhesions to the uterine wall.

15 Amniotic Sac Holds the amniotic fluid.
Is a clear transparent membrane. Is very strong until broken.

16 Uterus Fetus grows inside Hollow expandable muscle.

17 When the Due Date? Determine the 1st day of the mothers last period.
Count back 3 months Add 7 days

18 What is the due date? May 11th February 18th January 5th October 12th
