1 Culinary Leader of the Year NOMINATION FORM
DEADLINE: June 17, 2019

2 Be A Star 2019: Culinary Leader of the Year
Nomination Form Region Nominee’s First & Last Name Nominee’s Title Nominee’s Address School District (Operation) Name Operation Mailing Address Manager Name District Manager Name & of Person Submitting the Nomination There’s been a lot of talk recently about how to bring the coffee shop look and feel into the school food service environment. When Clover High School in South Carolina decided to move their 9th graders to a new building, they no longer had use for this space. The school connected with our team and decided to take this opportunity to turn dead space into usable café real estate. The school wanted something more on trend to attract the high school students. As it used to be a typical serving area, the school already had the basic serving lines in place. We were able to partner with the school district, and with minimal cost transform this space from a regular serving line into an upscale coffee shop. The maintenance department built the service counter over the existing serving line and upgraded the lighting throughout. Chartwells purchased a Turbo oven and display cooler, then added fresh paint and artwork to complete the look. With the new space came the opportunity to create a new menu. By offering an upscale premium smart snack menu, the account accomplished just that. They brought in a huge variety of beverages and snacks, used planograms to setup their coolers and focused on merchandising to really show off the available options. In addition to that, they also partnered with Canteen to bring in a coffee machine. The client saw an average increase of $221/day from Be A Star 2019: Culinary Leader of the Year
