4 Changes have been made Apprenticeship Levy
The Government has committed to creating three million new apprenticeships in this Parliament, ( ), with two primary measures to achieve this ambition. The two measures are:- Apprenticeship Levy The apprenticeship levy was introduced from April 2017 and is a fundamental change to the way apprenticeships in England are funded. Employers with a UK paybill of over £3m from both the private and public sectors will be required to pay 0.5% of that into a levy. The levy payment is then ring-fenced in an electronic account held by the Government that can only be used on apprenticeship training after 24 months in the account the money will expire and be lost. Public Sector Target The Public Sector target asks that 2.3% of your workforce must be an Apprentice every year. The target will be based on apprenticeship starts and will not be limited to new staff to organisations. Existing staff completing an Apprenticeship will count towards the target but only if the Apprenticeship is an upskilling opportunity.
