What were the motives for African and Asian colonists in joining in the war effort?

US originally neutral Reasons for neutrality Still trading supplies and weapons to Allied Powers German U-boats-unrestricted submarine warfare Sinking of many US ships including Lusitania Official entrance-Zimmermann Telegram (1917) If Mexico joined with Germany, gain back land lost to US in Mexican-American War What are some of the major reasons why the US decided to originally be neutral in World War I? What does the sinking of Lusitania and US policy actually demonstrate about that neutrality? What did the Zimmermann Telegram say? How would this be seen as a threat to the United States?

What were some major things that occurred to push countries in a total war mode? How did conscription contribute to this? What may have happened to women due to their contribution to the war effort? What is the point of rationing and why was it important during the war?
