Lesson Topic(s): Reading Second Grade Week of: 4-29/5-02 Objectives: Students will be able to identify and explain what makes a play or drama different from other texts. TEKS:2.3b questions, 2.3C purpose, 2.5B context for meaning, 2.3A predictions, 2.14D text features, ELPS: C4G increased comprehension, C4I demonstrate skills such as summarizing, Essential Question: What makes a play different from other texts? Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Lesson Plan Discuss vocabulary words. Make vocabulary page in journal with definitions and pictures. Read different plays aloud to students and discuss. Reading Rotation Read other texts with different voices and discuss what makes them different. Mini lesson: Play Structure Audition different plays and parts. Brainstorm puppet ideas and background suggestions Mini Lesson: Problem and solution Break into play groups to begin working on background, puppets and props. Continue working on plays. Students will use spelling words in sentences. Students will practice reading skills that go along with the mini lesson that week. Students will practice using vocabulary words in different situations. Using a book of their choosing students will read and respond with a partner. Students will use a writing convention in practice. It could be in journals or to turn it. Students will work on the grammar convention for the week. Meet with the teacher. Using a text I provide, they will practice comprehension skills.
