2. Example PCB with soldered connections and the
connectors that will be attached to the PCB

3. PCB in an enclosure per 22.x.1
- Material needs to be metal, ceramic,
or 5VA plastic.
- opening in side wall of enclosure
Opening is OK < 3 mm
opening is NOT OK
(opening is > 3mm)

4. Enclosure top is added per 22.x.1
- Material needs to be metal, ceramic,
or 5VA plastic.
- wires removed to visualize the connector fit
- one gap is Ok and the other is too large
Gap is NOT OK (gap is > 3mm)
Gap is OK

5. For openings with a gap
larger than 3 mm, apply the
20 mm by 50 mm cylinder
vertically at the opening
on the barrier surface

6. If wiring is present in the flame cylinder
that is above an opening in the barrier and
the orientation is more than 30 degrees
from the horizontal then the wire must
meet ISO :2011 clause 5.22 or
equivalent. Cylinder applied vertically at
the opening on the barrier surface per 22.X.1
