10 Assumed Prior Knowledge
Students should already: have had lots of practice grouping and ungrouping base ten resources such as Unifix cubes and bundling sticks have counted with base ten materials, grouping and ungrouping ten as they go be able to read and write numbers to 99 based on the materials they see be familiar with number lines, including of varying scales such as counting by 1, 2, 5 and 10 (c) Professor Pete's Classroom, All rights reserved.

11 Locating Numbers on a Number Line
18 When locating numbers on number lines it is important to note the scale of the line. Lesson 1 has a scale of numbers to 100 within a decade Lesson 2 has a scale from Lesson 3 has a scale from Lesson 4 has a mixture of scales 90 320 (c) Professor Pete's Classroom, All rights reserved.

12 Locating Numbers on a Number Line
Students can draw their own blank number lines Or a sheet can be printed off with the blank number lines Students will need to write the two numbers on the lines. This helps them establish the scale.
