2 Spiritual intervention:
The act of becoming an influencing force to modify, to help, to settle or to protect “Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass,… restore such a one in a spirit of gentles” (Galatians 6:1)

3 Spiritual intervention:
“If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.” (Matthew 18:15) “My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death…” (James 5:19-20)

4 Abigail, a restrainer of sin:
Abigail’s husband insulted David and his men (1 Samuel 25:1b – 11). David exploded in anger when he got the report (1 Samuel 25:12-13, 21-22). Abigail received the report and quickly intervened (1 Samuel 25:14-20).

5 Abigail, a restrainer of sin:
Abigail went in person to mediate with David (1 Samuel 25:23-25). Abigail logically appealed to change David’s course of action (1 Samuel 25:26-31).

6 “You shall do no injustice in judgment;… You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:15, 17, 18

7 “Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.” Romans 12:19 “For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” And again, “The LORD will judge His people.” Hebrews 10:32

8 Abigail, a restrainer of sin:
Abigail went in person to mediate with David (1 Samuel 25:23-25). Abigail logically appealed to change David’s course of action (1 Samuel 25:26-31). David was convicted and swayed by Abigail’s concern and discernment (1 Samuel 25:32-35).

9 What are we willing to do to intervene on the behalf of someone else so that they will not sin and tarnish their reputation?
