Major Focus: Build employability throughout program duration Implement current industry research: 21st Century Skills Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) Job Outlook How do we support RMIT students? Strong focus on building employability throughout the duration of a program (Don’t leave it to the end of your program, it’s too late and much harder. Need to graduate with qualifications and employment experience.) All our supports for students are focused on building employability, in particular 21st century skills and implementing findings from Foundation for Young Australians (FYA). Job Clusters – don’t just aim for one job. Whilst there are many programs that have compulsory placements: Nursing, Social Work, Education, Business 4 year degree, the Careers Service works across all university programs (vocational education, bachelor, postgraduate and alumni) To support students for success. Empowering them to empower themselves.

3 The Job Shop 1. Job Shop: -Students are at the forefront assisting other students. (Students bring themselves to it: Music, own experiences) -Very dynamic active space. - Have several workshops there a day: Interview coaching, job search strategies, networking (network for introverts), psychometric testing, emotional intelligence and resilience to name a few - Employer events: Employers come on campus at RMIT to talk directly with students about what they are looking for in applications and share their industry experience. Example: Victorian Government Panel - Resume and cover letter review drop-in sessions - LinkedIn Photobooth

Careers Counselling Consultations Postgraduate qualified Careers Consultants Individual, confidential careers counselling sessions Psychometric testing City, Brunswick and Bundoora presence 3 Events: Graduate Bootcamp, International Fridays, Vacation and Internship Fair Fully qualified Careers Consultants offer careers counselling sessions: Counselling approach, psychometric testing, confidential Key issues: program change and career planning Presence also at the Brunswick and Bundoora Campuses
