2. How it works…
After your designated D.E.A.R. time, you are to choose 1 question/activity to complete.
Each day you must choose a different question/activity. This means that after 10 D.E.A.R. sessions, you will have answered all 10 questions.
Write using complete sentences, and you must rephrase the question in your answer.
Give the date, title, author, page numbers that you read and the question number each day.

3. What objects or symbols can you associate with the main character? Why?
Write 3-5 questions that other students can answer after the reading the selection. Questions must be specific, you must include the answer and they may not be yes/no answers.
Name two characters or events from your story. In what way are they similar and different?
Write a diary entry by the main character describing a major event in the selection. Use correct format.
Choose five new vocabulary words from your selection. Define them and write meaningful sentences for them.
What are some of the problems that the character(s) encountered in your selection?
Explain the significance of the title of the selection.
Why is the story set where it is? (not what is the setting)
List 6 events in the correct order. Which was your favorite and why?
What is a lesson that can be learned from the selection?
