1 Figure 2 A case of early-onset PSD
Figure 2 | A case of early-onset PSD. Imaging of a patient with early-onset poststroke dementia after a possible transient ischaemic attack. The patient was a 79-year-old man who had transient left-sided weakness for 30 min associated with acute cognitive decline; carotid duplex ultrasonography showed 50% stenosis of the right internal carotid artery. Cognitive impairment persisted for 3 months poststroke with a Mini-Mental State Examination score of 22 and a Clinical Dementia Rating of 1. a | Cerebral CT showed no apparent infarct; MRI was not performed, so the presence of a small acute infarct could not be ruled out. b | Medial temporal lobe atrophy rating (Scheltens score) of 2. c | Pittsburgh compound B (PiB) PET showing Alzheimer disease-like retention of PiB.
