4 SARGON THE GREAT Sargon came from Akkad, an area north of Sumer.
He was destined to conquer Sumer and build one of the world’s first great empires. He organized the Akkadians into a strong fighting force and became their military king. Unit 3, lesson 11 - Sargon the Mighty

Sargon is considered to have been a good general and a wise ruler of his empire. He fought more than 30 wars. He reigned for 56 years. He built a great capital city. 9 Fall of the Akkadian Empire
Sargon failed at empire building because his empire became too large to properly control. After his death, his sons death, and the death of his grandson, invaders overran the land.
