4. SARGON THE GREAT Sargon came from Akkad, an area north of Sumer.
He was destined to conquer Sumer and build one of the world’s first great empires.
He organized the Akkadians into a strong fighting force and became their military king.

He becomes the first leader to unite northern and southern Mesopotamia
His will eventually spread civilization beyond Mesopotamia.
