9 Health Risk Behaviors Sedentary lifestyle-not exercising (couch potato) Alcohol and other drug use alcohol abuse can cause liver disease, brain damage, types of cancer and heart disease Major factors in car accidents, violence, depression, suicide, mental disorders Factors in spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs or STIs-infections)

Sexual activity-STDs, unplanned pregnancies, HIV Behavior that cause injuries- not wearing a seat belt “Many deaths and injuries to teens in crashes could have been prevented just by buckling up. In 2011, 58 percent of teen drivers killed in crashes were not wearing a seat belt, and 50 percent of passengers killed in crashes involving a teen driver were not buckled up. When used, seat belts reduce the risk of fatal injury to front seat passengers by 45 percent…teens and young adults ages 16 to 24 have the lowest seat belt use of any age group”
