We have talked long enough in this country about equal rights. We have talked for one hundred years or more. It is time now to write it in the books of law. ~ President Lyndon Johnson I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... For African Americans, the path from slavery to full civil rights was long and difficult.
