6 J&J Dartmouth collaboration
The JJ partnership is private public-academic collaboration in ten states and the District of Columbia designed to provide evidence-based supported employment for persons with psychiatric disabilities by using best practices for program implementation.

7 IPS Supported Employment
Eligibility is based on consumer choice. Supported employment is integrated with treatment. Competitive Employment is the goal. Personalized benefits planning is provided. Job search starts soon after a consumer expresses interest in working. Follow along supports are continuous. Consumer preferences are important. Principles are based on research conducted by Dartmouth et al and comprise the evidence based model.

8 Evidence Based Practice
Program models validated by rigorous research Has guidelines describing the critical components Has a treatment manual (instruction book) Has a fidelity scale (quality measurement) Has been successfully implemented in a wide range of settings Other definitions of what consists of an evidence based practice exist. EBSE has passed the qualifications of SAMHSA which are most vigorous.

9 Positive Outcomes from Competitive Work
Better control of psychiatric symptoms Higher self-esteem More satisfaction with finances and with leisure This study was a self evaluation of SMI clients who received supported employment.

10 Oregon Overview ● 2305 clients served MH supported employment ● Supported employment was available to people with and without Medicaid ● 20 providers across state offer service ● Average age of client served….41 years ● 1183 job placements and 361 have graduated January 2008-June 2009

12 Oregon IPS supported employment highlights 2008-2011
Won Dartmouth Award Steadily improved outcomes despite high unemployment rates Outreach to peer groups across state Development of access to funding 16 out of 20 sites reached fidelity benchmark established by state Dartmouth awards were for high performing supported employment program and for the family advocacy project. Benchmark for fidelity is set at 100 out of a possible 125 points and allows eligibility to fee for service Medicaid funding for supported employment service provision.
