3 What are nutrients? Nutrients- needed for growth and maintaining health They include: Carbohydrates Protein Fat Vitamins Minerals

4 Calorie dense food vs. Nutrient dense food
Calorie dense has more calories, but is low in nutrients Nutrient dense has more nutrients, but is low in calories Snickers vs. Strawberries

5 Food label exercise 1) Identify grams of sugar
2) Multiply grams of sugar by 4 3) Multiply that by No. servings per container 4) Gives us Calories from sugar 96 calories from sugar
