Around 168 million kids between 5 and 17 are working in illegal and dangerous conditions. These jobs jeopardize children safety and prevent kids from having a comfortable life. What Is It?

3 Why Does Child Labour Exist?
Kids who are affected by labour come from very poor families These families need all the money they can get, so they send their kids to work as well. Why Does Child Labour Exist?

4 The largest amount of kids work in agriculture.
Kids also work in; fishing, manufacturing, mining, and domestic services. Also kids work in very illegal jobs like; the drug trade, prostitution, and as child soldiers. The majority of child labour occurs in Asian, African and South American countries. Where Do Children Work?

10 Unions against forced labour need to be kept strong
People needs to recognize items made with the use of child labour. People need to take action to find alternatives for those items. What Needs To Be Done?

11 The Catholic church has opposed abuse committed through child labour.
Pope Leo XIII condemned the practice in his first social encyclical “Rerum Noverum” in 1981. IN June 2013 on World Day Against Child Labour Pope Francis launched an appeal against it. He called it a “deplorable phenomenon.” Catholic Church

12 Canada’s Role Participates in campaigns against Child Labour, (World Day Against Child Labour.) Supports the application of international standards that will protect kids from exploitation. Works with the International Labour Organization. Works with developing countries through its Securing the Future for Children and Youth Strategy. This includes support for education of young children. As well Canada is trying to get those in developing countries proper documentation that could help prevent exploitation, and allow for access to health and education resources.
