Mass to Volume Ratio
How much matter in an object compared to how much space the object takes up
How tightly packed the atoms/molecules are

3. How do you measure Density?
Step #1: Find the object’s mass
Use a balance or scale
Step #2: Find the object’s volume
Use L x W x H or water displacement
Step #3: Divide!

5. Mass is measured in grams
Volume is measured in milliliters
mass = grams

Unit for density is g/ml

6. Sink or Float
Objects that sink have greater density than the substance they are in
Objects that float have less density than the substance they are in
The density of water is 1 g/ml
