2. Boston Massacre
American colonist were being taxed on almost all of the goods they purchased
Colonist felt that British wanted all of their money and to make them into slaves
Colonist protested the taxes by boycotting the British goods but also with violence
On March 5, 1770 in Boston, Massachusetts tensions between colonies and British soldiers exploded with the soldiers opening fire on unarmed colonist

4. Boston Tea Party
Through protest and boycott many taxes were removed from goods except tea
The tax angered colonist since tea was a daily staple in their lives
In an attempt to make peace with the colonist the British offered to sell the tea at a discount rate
Many of the colonist were upset and some in Boston boarded tea ships in Boston harbor and dumped the tea into the water

6. Intolerable Acts
British Parliament became very upset with the American colonist so they pass the Coercive Acts
The Coercive Acts or the Intolerable Acts, shut down local town government and colonial legislature
The First Continental Congress was formed by colonial delegates to decide how to respond to the Intolerable Acts peacefully
After fighting began in Concord and Lexington The Second Continental Congress was formed on how to use force against the British
