What are decomposers and how do they make the food chain a cycle?

If there are too many consumers there will not be enough energy in the end of the chain.

The Food Chain The food chain is not a cycle because as energy is passed on it gets less and less.

A sow bug is an example of a decomposer.

The Food chain is not a cycle
The food chain is not an energy cycle, It is a nutrient cycle. Decomposers do not put energy into the soil, They only put nutrients into the soil. Plants still need energy from the sun to begin the chain again. The nutrients from the decomposers are used by plants to begin the cycle again. That means that the food chain is a cycle of nutrients and a chain of energy.

The Food Chain is NOT a Cycle

Decomposers Rock!!!!
