3. Screenwriting History
Write words a historical character in a movie says based on historical records, evidence, and some drama to keep the audience engaged. This is partly a creative writing activity as well.
Enter mindset of the historical character based on what you know about the person, their culture, and their history.
Write words they would say to others based on what you know about the other people and how to communicate effectively with them.
Write in “first person” style.

Meeting in spring 1947 among;
Arabs, Amin al-Husseini
Jews, David Ben-Gurion
United Nations, Oswaldo Aranha
Each has own agenda of priorities
Each knows the history and personalities of the other two at the Middle East Conference
Study the assigned reading on the Middle East conflict and their different priorities

This is an individual writing activity for students
Interactive dialogue rather than speeches
Bargaining Position: Historic Palestine is divided and Arabs and Jews obtain their own country with mostly their own people inside of it and safe from invasion.
Who has to move? What is the capital? What is the role of the United Nations and are they wanted by both potential new countries?
Complete the movie dialogue.

6. Location for Writing Activity
Go to Google Drive file folder for CI 1150 and then select “Screenwriting Middle East Conflict 1947”
Look at the handout “Project Small Group Members” for which of the five small groups you are to work.
Select the document for your small group (A, B, C, D, or E).
Read the detailed instructions.
The document close by midnight on Thursday.
