2 Physical Characteristics
Tropical climate for much of subcontinent Monsoons, droughts, floods are all natural hazards in this area Himalayas in the northern part of subcontinent Highlands along the coastal region and interior Peninsula- Surrounded by water on 3 sides Only good farmland in specific areas of the subcontinent Subcontinent includes an archipelago and island India consumes about ¾ of total land area

3 Human Characteristics
Most people in India are Hindu Most areas of the subcontinent have to prepare for seasonal flooding, droughts, or severe storms India has the largest population by far Maldives has the lowest population but has the highest literacy rate (assumption: education is better in Maldives) Most people in Pakistan are Muslim

4 Problems/Predictions/Conclusions
Education is important to the island nations of the Indian Subcontinent Only about half or less than half the population can read or is educated in most of the Indian Subcontinent India is overpopulated- may not have enough resources for it’s people Much of India is in poverty due to high population and lack of resources There may be conflict between India and Pakistan since they have high religious majorities that are different India is tolerant of different religions There may be conflict in the northwestern areas of the Indian Subcontinent since China and Pakistan occupy these areas of India.
