Monday 1st July – Friday 5th July Monday – Wednesday – E1, E2, E4, E7. Wednesday – Friday – E3, E5, E6.

3. Departure and Arrival Times
You should be at school at 7.15am on the day of departure to set off at 7.30am
Return will be at :00 pm (approximately) on Wednesday and on Friday :
All arrival times are approximate and will be dependent upon traffic. Parents will be notified of any major changes.

4. Where are we all staying?
We will be staying at:

All rooms are en-suite and all meals are provided, in line with guidance for school meals. Breakfast and Dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant and lunches are picnic style, as we will be out enjoying Northumberland during the days.
Please see Mrs Goodall by Friday with any requests regarding sharing rooms, clearly written down (one request per room please).
Please also note that in order to keep groups of friends together we occasionally use camp beds and ask students to share a double with their friends.

5. Kit list and itinerary
Please make sure that you have collected a kit list, medical form and itinerary from the tables at the back of the hall and ticked your child’s name to confirm you have received the information.
Please note that students will be required to give presentations on the days activities so they will need to bring pens / pencils with them (books to write in will be provided)
Please also confirm if you are giving photo permission for the trip and permission for basic first aid and medication (eg: paracetemol, plasters) to be given to your child.
Please return medical forms either to a member of staff this evening or to student support as soon as possible.
Additional copies of these forms are available on the school website along with a copy of this presentation.

6. School policy on mobile phones etc.
The whole school policy on mobile phones will apply to this visit. Please ensure that phones are not brought on the visit.
In case of emergency you will be able to contact the visit on the school number during operational hours and on an emergency number (TBC before visit) outside of school hours. Please note if you need to contact us out of school hours please send a text message that will be replied to as soon as possible.
Camera’s and pocket money may be brought on the visit but will be the responsibility of the student and school does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to such items. We encourage students to bring a watch or small clock so they are able to keep track of time.
Staff will be around to ensure that all students are awake in reasonable time to allow them to get ready to participate in the day’s activities.
Should any student behave in a manner that puts to health and safety of others at risk parents will be contacted and asked to collect their child (this has never happened in 17 years of running the visit).

7. Hartlepool Historic Quay
Pupils will visit Hartlepool Historic Quay and learn about 19th Century maritime history.
Pupils will learn about life on a ship in peace and wartime.
They will also experience what life was like from Captain to lowly powder monkey.
We will go on board the HMS Trincomalee, a 19th Century Leda-Class Frigate.
Trawling through each deck pupils will earn about what life was like living on this ship.

8. The Farne Islands
We will take a boat trip departing from Seahouses harbour and setting sail for the Farne Islands.
As an important wildlife habitat, pupils will learn about the ecology of the islands.
We will get a chance to see a wide variety of marine birds such as puffin, Arctic Tern, Guillemot and hopefully catch a glimpse of the endangered Roseate Tern.
This trip will also allow a chance to see some of the UK’s marine mammals including Grey Seals.

9. Lindisfarne - Holy Island
We will take a trip over the causeway and onto Holy Island.
Pupils will learn about the monastery which was formed by Saint Aidan in 635AD in an attempt to Christianise Northumbria.
We will also visit St Mary's and learn about the history of Holy island and its connections to Celtic Christianity.

10. Dunstanburgh Castle
We will take a coastal walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle.
Once at the castle we will learn about the structures and uses of the castle and about castle life.
Pupils will revisit knowledge used in the castles unit in Humanities lessons.
