3 Limits Freedom of Speech
Can’t start riots Can’t speak/write in way that immediately leads to criminal activity / effort to overthrow the govt Can’t spread lies to hurt reputation Slander: spoken lies Libel: printed lies

4 Limits on Freedom of Religion
Govt: Establishment Clause – govt can’t est national religion Free Exercise Clause – govt can’t prohibit ppl from practicing religion People: Can’t break laws w/ religion

5 Amendment 2: Right to Bear Arms
Right to own firearms for protection Right to state militia (today = National Guard) Trick: You have 2 arms

6 Amendment 3: Quartering of Troops
Don’t have to house/provide for troops in peacetime & only during war w/ Congress say so Trick: 3’s a crowd

7 Amendment 4: Search & Seizure
No illegal search and seizure Must have search warrant or probable cause Illegal evidence can’t be used Trick: “What you searchin’ four!”

G - Grand Jury E - Eminent Domain D - Double Jeopardy D - Due Process S - Self-incrimination

9 Amendment 5 Can’t be put on trial for crime w/o formal charge (indictment) by grand jury 2. Limits eminent domain - govt can’t take private prop for public use 3. No double jeopardy – can’t be put on trial for same crime twice 4. Can’t be denied “life, liberty, or property” w/o due process – legal procedures must be followed 5. Right to remain silent (plead the 5th) / can’t be forced to testify against yourself (self-incrimination)
