The bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments of the United States Constitution. Pushed by Patrick Henry. Made as a protection to the powers of the federal government. BILL OF RIGHTS

Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion. Freedom of RAPPS. (religion, assembly, press, petition, speech.) FIRST AMENDMENT

Right to bear arms. A well regulated militia SECOND AMENDMENT

No quartering of troops in peacetime without consent of the owner. THIRD AMENDMENT

No illegal search and seizures. Need a search warrant. FOURTH AMENDMENT

No double jeopardy Miranda rights Due process clause Self incrimination FIFTH AMENDMENT

Right to fair and speedy trial. Counsel. Witnesses No tricks! SIXTH AMENDMENT

Common law cases may be TRIAL BY JURY SEVENTH AMENDMENT

No excessive bail No excessive fines No cruel and unusual punishment EIGHTH AMENDMENT

You have more rights than what are stated in the Constitution. NINTH AMENDMENT

Powers not given to the U.S. by the Constitution are “reserved” to the states or people. TENTH AMENDMENT
