5 Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio
Probably the most revolutionary Italian artist of his time He is considered the first great representative of the Baroque school of art. Never lacked for commissions or patrons, yet he handled his success poorly. He abandoned the rules that had guided a century of artists before him. They had idealized the human and religious experience. He painted the saints and bible figures as normal everyday people. The works caused public outcry, however, because of their realistic and dramatic nature.

6 Life Was considered fascinating, rebellious and dangerous.
"after a fortnight's work he will swagger about for a month or two with a sword at his side and a servant following him, from one ball-court (bar) to the next, ever ready to engage in a fight or an argument, so that it is most awkward to get along with him."

10 Rembrandt Numerous portraits and self-portraits
Paintings known for being an accurate representation of the personality of the subject. Painted people the way he saw them and the way he wanted to. Not necessarily how they wanted to be painted. He was a master of light and shadow making him a giant in the history of art. When Rembrandt became established as a painter, he began to teach and continued teaching art throughout his life.
