6 What is sexual orientation?
Sexual orientation is defined by the sex of individuals for whom we feel an attraction and affection, both physical and emotional. It is part of our personal identity in that it is how we perceive ourselves and how others perceive us.

7 Most people know the terms:
Bisexual- A woman or man who is emotionally and sexually or physically attracted to both women and men. Homosexual - A person who is emotionally and sexually attracted to people of the same sex. Heterosexual - A person who is emotionally and sexually attracted to people of the opposite sex.

8 The words ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’
A lesbian woman is someone who is emotionally and sexually attracted to other women. ‘Gay’ is a slang word (though not necessarily an offensive one) for a homosexual man. It may also refer to a lesbian. The term ‘homosexual’ covers both. If you’re not sure what term to use, either ask the person which they prefer, or figure out a way to rephrase what you’re saying.
