2 Monday, 8/28/2017 Objectives: Introduce expectations for the classroom. Examine the components of a speech and take notes regarding the graduation project. Homework: Supplies Due Tuesday 9/5 Books Due by Friday 9/8 Print out syllabus and course overview Complete the student information sheet Bring a digital copy of your junior paper in tomorrow

I will assign your seats for now. Once you know where you are sitting, take your things and take your seat. Rules: 1. Respect your instructors, classmates, the school, and yourself. 2. Be seated and ready when the bell rings. 3. No personal grooming. 4. Keep the classroom neat and clean. 5. Follow directions the first time they are given.

7 Warm Up: 6 min. Take out a piece of paper and answer the following questions: 1. What concerns do you have about the graduation project? 2. What are your goals after high school?

8 Laptop Procedure: Retrieving and returning laptops.
Each row will come to the cart one at a time. Do not yank on the cord! ONLY get the laptop that matches your seat number (If you have your own laptop, we encourage you to bring it).

11 To get into Canvas: Go to cms student portal Click on canvas on the bottom left Click on red canvas button Click on English 4 Your syllabus and assignments will be listed on canvas with the due dates. Let’s try an assignment together.

12 Getting to Know You Click on the module button and select the Getting to Know Your Classmates button. Complete the assignment and respond to at least one classmate.

13 Student Information Sheet
Everyone click on the assignment labeled “Student Information Sheet” Fill out the form to completion. Make sure you have the correct book number as you will be responsible for that book at the end of the term. Download the syllabus and read it tonight.

Click on the module labeled graduation project! We will go through the information and I want you to follow along. Update your calendars/agendas accordingly.

17 Let’s Analyze a Speech Click on the assignment labeled “Climate Change” and read the instructions. Watch the video and follow the assignment. Do not go to other websites. Work on this assignment on your own. Starting tomorrow, you are allowed to use headphones.
