2. What is a noun? A noun is a person, place, thing, or idea.
“Last year, our neighbors bought a puppy.”
“I read an excellent book last night.”

4. What is a verb? Verbs express actions, events, or states of being.

6. What is a pronoun? Pronouns replace nouns in a sentence.

7. What is an adjective? Adjectives describe nouns and pronouns.
They usually precede the noun.
“The heart-shaped balloon floated over the treetops.”

Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.
How? When? Where? How much?

11. What is a preposition?
A preposition links nouns and pronouns to other parts of the sentence.
Relationship of an object to the rest of the sentence
“The duffel bag is beneath the table.”

12. What is a conjunction? Conjunctions link words and phrases.
“I ate the whole pizza and some chicken wings.”

13. What is a interjection? Interjections convey emotions. HEY!
“Ouch! That book fell on me!”
