During the war, the King Authorized Writs of Assistance
Writs of Assistance-allowed British troops to search any house, stores and ships

11. Tensions Increase Britain was in debt due to the French and Indian War
King Charles III passed a number of acts as an attempt to lower the national debt

Currency Act – Colonists cannot print money, they must use British currency
Stamp Act – colonists must put English stamps on all printed and legal papers

13. Quartering Act – Colonists must give English soldiers free food and housing
Tea Act – put tax on local tea making it more expensive

14. Boston Tea Party
On the evening of December 16, 1773, a group of men calling themselves the "Sons of Liberty" went to the Boston Harbor. The men were dressed as Mohawk Indians. They boarded three British ships and dumped forty-five tons of tea into the Boston Harbor.
