Classroom News February 25- March 1 Mark your calendar * Mrs. Marston’s Second Grade A peek at the week + Math: *OA=Operations & Algebraic Thinking *NBT=Numbers & Operations in Base 10 *G=Geometry  2.NBT.6 Add up to four two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations. 2.NBT.7 Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones, and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds. Grammar: Simple and compound sentences Writing: W2.5 With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing. Making Meaning: RI2.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, when, where, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. RI2.2 Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral. Something that is solid is not a liquid or a gas. Mushy- soft and wet like mush.
